The Controller has tremendous influence over California’s economic competitiveness and should be a catalyst for creating stronger job growth.
Conduct Annual Competitiveness Audits
Examine yearly the state’s competitive situation, determine threats and opportunities to the state’s economy, and identify critical risks posed by individual state laws, regulations, and policies.
Consolidate and Simplify Government
Evaluate and recommend for consolidation, where appropriate, the 81 Boards and Commissions that the Controller sits on, and update or eliminate those that no longer serve a viable role.
Create A More Effective System for Financing Growth
Recommend coordination of the various financing authorities and commissions upon which the Controller participates for a united focus on needed business infrastructure throughout the State.
